As the automotive world gradually shifts towards electrification, Jeep bids farewell to its Gladiator EcoDiesel production with the exclusive 2023 Gladiator Rubicon FarOut edition. This move underscores Jeep's commitment to a more sustainable future as articulated by Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. He remarked, “As the Jeep brand continues its drive to electrification, we are phasing out EcoDiesel technology with the final, limited-edition Gladiator Rubicon FarOut.”
This special edition, rooted in the Gladiator Rubicon, packs a commendable punch with the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V-6 engine, boasting a best-in-class 442 lb.-ft. of torque. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with the TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission and the Rock-Trac two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. Ensuring robustness and durability, the Rubicon FarOut also features front and rear third-generation Dana 44 heavy-duty axles and a 3.73 axle ratio.
For enthusiasts who value exclusivity, the Gladiator Rubicon FarOut doesn’t disappoint. With production capped at 1,000 units for North America in 2023, it's bound to be a sought-after collector's piece. Recognizable by the “Diesel 3.0L” hood graphic, exclusive tailgate badging, 17-inch low-gloss black polished aluminum wheels, 33-inch mud-terrain tires, and a slew of other distinguishing features, this model stands out from the crowd.
Customers interested in owning this piece of automotive history can place their orders up until the end of September 2023. Deliveries are expected to commence in the third quarter of 2023. The Gladiator Rubicon FarOut edition is competitively priced with an MSRP of $79,995.
As the curtain falls on the Gladiator EcoDiesel era, Jeep enthusiasts can look forward to what's next for the brand, as it continues to produce vehicles with the iconic Gladiator, including the award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine variant.
