Challenger Shakedown Starts Run of Dodge “Last Call” Models

With the Dodge Challenger and Charger nearing the end of the line in their current form, Dodge is helping it go out with a V8-powred bang with the release of seven “Last Call” models, the first of which is taking the form of this: the 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown.

This special edition Challenger is taking its cues from the Dodge Shakedown concept first seen at the SEMA show in Las Vegas way back in 2016. Like that car, this newest shakedown gets a black and red interior with Nappa leather and Alcantara seats as well as some of the exterior design details such as a black “Challenger” grille badge, Brembo brakes with red calipers, stripes, “Shakedown” graphics, 20-onch gloss black Slingshot or Warp Speed wheels and more, including the legendary “shaker” hood and cold air intake. The goal is to establish a fusion between the classic Challengers of old and the more contemporary model. All we know is if you wanted a special edition Challenger to remember the mode by, this is a very good place to start.

Looks are one thing, but this being a top-flite muscle car from the power freaks and Dodge SRT, the figures are of utmost importance. Since the Shakedown starts life as a 392 Scat Pack model, look for a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 good for 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, sent to the rear wheels for plenty of donut and drifting fun.

Only 1,000 of these will be produced, a figure that incudes 500 each of the Scat Pack and Scat Pack widebody cars. The standard cars will all be finished in Destroyer Gray, while the widebody versions get the imposing Pitch Black tint.

Other “last call” highlights found throughout the Dodge line-up include the return of heritage colours such as B5 Blue, Sublime Green and a popular favourite: Plum Crazy Purple. Also look for “Last Call” commemorative plaques under the hood. If you’re a fan of nostalgia, now’s the time to buy a Dodge!
